Very disappointing stay – poor service and room maintenance
Unfortunately, our stay was far below expectations. The service was poor, and the room was not properly maintained or cleaned. We also encountered bugs in the room, which was extremely concerning and unacceptable for a hotel stay.
The overall condition of the room and the lack of attention to basic cleanliness and maintenance made the experience very uncomfortable. Staff service also did not meet the standard we expected.
For the price, we expected a clean, well-maintained room and much better customer service. I would not recommend this hotel unless these issues are addressed.

We continued to stay here because of the hassle to move all of our stuff again after getting situated... and the pretty decent location to places. But will not return to stay here again. The elevator works when it wants to, and failed MANY times during our stay, which resulted in the stairs. It's even more fun taking them when you have kids and their stuff as well. Yay. It was broke when we got there, and we had to lug all our luggage and items up 3 flights of stairs. Then it worked. Then 30 mins later it broke again. This happened 4 more times during our stay. Scared to even use it at all, fear of getting locked in it. At least since a year ago, they decided to finally put REAL PERSON behind the desk. It's so rude to not have REAL PEOPLE to greet you, help with issues, simple conversation, and a warm thank you when leaving. Appreciation. Now, let's just work on getting them to speak and understand ENGLISH. 🙄🤦♀️ Our room was constantly smusty smelling and damp feeling. Even walking on the floor was like wet like. The patio door did not lock, it was broke. They drilled a " makeshift" plate over the door. Mind you, it was extremely crappily done and out of the 4 holes to secure a screw in, 1 screw was in 1 hole... that 1 screw was also hanging by a thread. I felt unsafe both by potential intruders, and also by my children getting out the door alone quickly, on the 3rd floor patio. Also, the security of this place is awful! The glass door, nor the gate that follows it in and out from the pool is NEVER LOCKED, nor is the gate from the parking lot in and out to the pool. Anyone can walk in the pool from inside the hotel to the pool, grab a kid or person and keep right on to the parking lot and be gone. Intern, anyone can walk off the street and get to the pool and then even continue into the hotel to roam freely or possibly do harm to something or someone. Like I said, never again. Beware!
I chose this property because it is associated with the Wyndham brand, and I expected a much better experience. The online check-in process was convenient, but unfortunately, that was the only positive part of my stay.
I reserved and paid for an ocean-view room, but when I arrived, it was unavailable due to a maintenance issue. Instead, I was moved to another room that also had problems, including a door that would not close properly from the outside.
The property appeared to have several maintenance issues. The elevators were constantly wet from pool traffic and felt slippery and unsafe. There was a flooded common area on the fourth floor with fans running and a strong, unpleasant odor. The carpet in my room was worn, the electrical outlet above the microwave was missing its cover, creating a safety concern, the shower had very poor water pressure, and the Wi-Fi was unavailable during my stay.
The only reason I am giving this property two stars is because of its convenient location near the beach.
This was my first trip to the Outer Banks, and I was disappointed that my stay did not reflect the quality I expected from a Wyndham-associated property. I hope management addresses these maintenance and safety issues so future guests have a much better experience.
Let me tell y’all about these “best rates” which is what they have on their sign outside btw. I’m not one to leave a bad review bc I believe most places deserve and second shot but I won’t be back here.
The pool…. This was probably the best part about the hotel it was okay however I have heard that they don’t lock the gates at all.
The lobby- It was okay the staff were decent but the seating was gross and had huge stains on them.
The hotel itself is run down and none of us really cared about that part is was the cleanliness of the floors the walls the tile you name it was not cleaned.
The elevator- o m geeeee when we first got there the elevator wasn’t working well it started working but we nearly got stuck in it we talked to other people that were staying at this hotel as well one group got stuck in the elevator for 20 mins.
The rooms- the sheets and towels had stains there’s a sign on the mirror saying they clean sheets only every three days. The floors were disgusting. You “can” walk barefoot but I wouldn’t advise it. The showers are gross I wore my flip flops in there to rinse off bc there was no way I was getting in there barefoot. Everything looked like it hadn’t been cleaned the bed sheets were put in inside out the towels had orange stains on them there was makeup and stains on the sheets there was an attempt to clean the windows but where you couldn’t reach it wasn’t cleaned I felt as if the cleanliness just wasn’t an priority which i mean I know I’m not perfect but I also would like to stay in a clean hotel if I’m paying over 300 a night in a hotel. I know people aren’t perfect but this was ridiculous. Cleaning the room and making an effort to make sure there’s at least clean sheets and towels is pretty much the standard
Also if your looking for a place if continental breakfast don’t look here unless you want an uncleaned coffee pot and a granola bar. Yes when we booked they claimed to have continental breakfast did they? No. But no fear go to “bobs grill eat and get the hell out” beacuse at lest they know how to clean and serve good food!
Overall if I could give this place a review of a zero I would.
Unfortunately, this was not the mini vacation we were hoping for. The hotel was very dirty. Our room was gross! The linens had stains all over them. You couldn’t walk on the floor barefoot or your feet would turn black. The sliding glass door to our patio had paw prints and dog slobber all over it. The bathroom was something to be desired. We will never go back to this hotel. For the amount of money that we paid, I am completely disgusted!
