Staying at the Ramada Plaza by Wyndham Nags Head Oceanfront was like finding calm seas after a storm. I accidentally paid for the wrong night and arrived a day late for my reservation. When I realized my mistake, I was incredibly stressed, but the manager was so kind and sweet. She patiently helped me understand that I had paid for the night before and that I was one day late. Her compassion and professionalism truly turned my stressful situation into a smooth and pleasant experience.
The hotel’s oceanfront location is absolutely beautiful. Being able to wake up with the sound of the waves and enjoy direct beach access made the trip even more special. They also offer umbrellas and chairs for rent right on-site, which is incredibly convenient and saves the hassle of bringing your own beach gear.
One of the highlights was the top-notch tiki bar with its stunning ocean view. Sipping a drink while looking out over the Atlantic felt like the perfect way to unwind.
From the exceptional customer service to the breathtaking beachfront setting, this hotel made my stay memorable. I’m very grateful to the manager for her understanding and kindness, and I would gladly stay here again!
We paid approximately $450 per night expecting an oceanfront vacation with the amenities that were advertised. Unfortunately, this stay has been extremely disappointing.
The biggest issue has been the ongoing construction during the middle of peak tourist season. Construction has blocked the most convenient beach access after the pool closes, making it unnecessarily difficult to enjoy the beach. It has also made getting from our room to the dining hall much more complicated, creating daily frustration throughout our stay.
To make matters worse, the hot tub has been out of service for our entire trip. One of the reasons we chose this hotel—and paid premium pricing—was to enjoy the hot tub and easy ocean access. Instead, we've effectively lost both because of the broken amenities and construction disruptions.
Another major disappointment was the Wi-Fi and cellular service. The Wi-Fi was unreliable, and there was little to no usable cell service. For guests who need to work while traveling, this creates a significant inconvenience and should be addressed.
If major construction is going to impact guest access and amenities, it should either be scheduled during the off-season or clearly disclosed before booking. Charging peak-season rates while guests deal with construction, unavailable amenities, and unreliable internet is not the experience we expected.
Overall, this stay did not provide the value promised for the price we paid, and I hope management takes these concerns seriously so future guests have a better experience.
Would not recommend. The hallway leading to our room smelled of cigarette smoke. The room itself was clearly not maintained. The flooring was separating from the other planks. There was dirt on the floor. And to top it off there was a cockroach in the room when we got there. We spoke with hotel staff and all they could offer was to send someone to clean the room but no alternative accommodations. We ended up having to cancel and were fortunate enough to find a clean hotel down the road.
The ocean view room on upper floor to be able to see over dune provides perfect setting to sit on balcony and watch the sunrise over the ocean. If you haven't slept oceanside the ocean can be loud but part of the experience.
Originally booked online and could only reserve a pet room on city side. The front counter rep, Kristy (I wish I had written her name down) afternoon check-in on Monday, June 1st. She was so helpful in checking for cancelations or other room options, explaining upgrade charges and confirming agreement prior to modifying the reservation. I appreciated the attention to detail and patience in updating two room reservations.
They were finishing the daily cleaning when we were heading to room. The not only clean the rooms but hallway was also being vacuumed as they moved down the rooms.
The room was cleaned with bleach but opening the balcony door quickly cleared the air.
The Hotel has easy access to the beach. During pool hours just cut through the indoor pool area. Early morning or after hours, they should add a sign on the pool door, alternative beach access is next to the restaurant on 2nd floor, once over there are easy to follow beach signs.
I think the staff was friendly and very helpful. It's a great place to take the kids or grandkids in my case and let them enjoy the beach without having to worry about the traffic. It was great, all the kids had to do was grab the boogie boards and go. We would have breakfast in the morning there and go to the beach or swim in the pool or go explore other places around the area. Great vacation!
