A stay named after the pirate killed just off Ocracoke's shore, reachable only by ferry
Blackbeard's Lodge sits in the village of Ocracoke, the only town on an island with no bridge or road connection to the mainland — you get here by the free ferry from Hatteras (about an hour) or the longer toll runs from Cedar Island or Swan Quarter, both roughly two and a quarter hours. The name points straight at the island's best-known history: Blackbeard was killed in a battle in Ocracoke Inlet in 1718, and that story still shapes how the village thinks of itself.
Ocracoke village is small enough to cover on foot or by bike once you've settled in. Silver Lake Harbor, the working anchorage at the heart of the village, is close by, along with the 1823 Ocracoke Lighthouse — the oldest operating lighthouse in North Carolina, though it has never been open to climb — and Springer's Point, the preserved maritime forest traditionally linked to Blackbeard himself. Shops and restaurants cluster around the harbor within easy reach.
Front desk hours run into the evening most days, which helps if your ferry docks late. Because Ocracoke has no road off the island, build your trip around the ferry schedule rather than the other way around — and keep an eye on conditions if you're traveling during hurricane season (June through November), when ferry service here can be suspended with little notice.

There is a micro AC unit in the window that would not keep the room cool when it got the slightest bit warm, luckily it was in the 60s. Staff was ok, but a little short with you if you really needed anything. Bath tub stops up when you shower and good luck watching tv. I would never stay here, it honestly made our trip not as enjoyable because of the accommodations. Also, there was a person sleeping on the couch in the lobby.

We spent 3 nights here and absolutely loved it! From the beginning we were greeted by Cynthia at the front desk, who was so accommodating and welcoming. She made sure we were happy with our room, which was adorable 😊. The location is great also. Close to the village and to great restaurants and bars! We loved the fresh seafood 🍤 at Howard’s Pub! Renting a golf cart for convenience is recommended. Great local shops off the beaten path is Ziggies! Great wine selection! Which is one of the places that Cynthia recommended for us. The beaches are beautiful and clean. Local people are very friendly and welcoming! This lodge is a great place to stay. Laid back with a nice pool. Highly recommend! We will be back! Thank you, Blackbeards for a wonderful, relaxing trip!

LOVE Blackbeard’s Lodge!! It’s adorable, historical, and right in the heart of everything. You can walk or golf cart to all the restaurants and shops. All the rooms are unique with different accommodations and sizes depending on what you need. Plus, Cynthia at the front desk was an angel woman who gave us all the good intel and recommendations! 10/10 will be back. The only con was the bed was a little soft :)

Absolutely loved our stay. Checked in about a half hour early and rented a golf cart. Checked out our room which was clean and quiet and then headed out to explore. The entire lodge was beautiful and clean and you could feel the history of the island in the entire place. It was so beautiful and the staff was so friendly and helpful, it was amazing. Highly recommend and honestly can't wait to go back!

Wonderful stay every time! Both visits we have stayed in the Bridge rooms. Just a heads up those are on the third floor and you have to go outside to get to them. But they have been our favorite rooms. Nothing like listening to the wind howl on the top floor here. Always make for a deep sleep.
