I've been coming here since I was 2 years old. A lot of the magic of this place has been removed by the new management that took over a few years ago. There used to be a bespoke all-wood cozy clubhouse built into the side of a hill like a hobbit's home. It had multiple stories and a gorgious balcony. New management flattened the hill and replaced it with a generic cookie cutter layout - and the lights inside are the brightest, coldest LEDS you can imagine. Note to management: stop using ultra-cold LEDs! It's not 2010 anymore, they make yellow ones now. It's not just the club house, these lights are also in every apartment unit and they make me feel like im in a hospital about to die.
They also removed the beautiful wooden bridge at the outdoor pool. I remember fondly as a child doing pull-ups on that bridge, and playing a game to see who would last the longest swinging from step-to-step on the underside. I can only imagine that management wanted to save a couple bucks so they decided: let's delete it.
Also. There are so many ugly and confusing AI pamphlets, posters, and signs! I'd much prefer a poster that someone put together with love.
All units in the resort have been renovated in a project that ended around 2024. A new indoor pool and rec center was built in the same time frame that is very nice. The outdoor pool has been resurfaced and renovated and should be done soon in May/June 2026. The beach access is great and the location at Duck, NC is one of the nicest areas in the outerbanks imho. I recommend the resort highly if you are visiting the outerbanks.
Great location and staff very friendly, welcoming, and eager to help! Kevin from Maintenance was wonderful when we had an electrical issue in our unit…prompt and thorough and fixed problem! And the GM, Mark, was very approachable and appreciative of any feedback from us! While unit had a few problems and needed a little updating, the issues were easy to overlook based on location and the wonderful staff!
They didn’t have the place we rented available, the manager have our phone number to call us,didn't had the courtesy to let us know that for some reason wasn’t available so she called at 3:45 to let us check in and that’s when she gave us the new place which was far from the beach and the pool, I complained to her and her answer was I’m giving you a 2 BRoom for the same price,why will I need 2 BR for only 2 people?,that is not what I rented. You have to drive to the beach with all your stuff every day. The refrigerator had rust in side,stove was old 1980. Dirty carpet in the living room. She didn’t even try to put us closer to the one we rented. Poor management. And I feel this was a bait and switch and they probably do this routinely. Would not recommend.
There was a trash bag outside of our room door the day we got there, it was still there when we left. The grills that were outside were knocked over and tore up. Our room was dirty, visible, dust all over the walls, a random spatula laying on the couch when we arrived, and the bathroom smelled like it had been so soaked in urine. For as much as we paid for this weekend stay, I was extremely disappointed
