This is for room 3 of the Motel.
Listen. First trip to the Outer Banks, and I thoroughly enjoyed Avon. This place is 100 yards from the dunes. You do have a little hike up over the dune then bam! Ocean! It's not steep but it is walking in loose sand, so it can be awkward.
This is definitely a NO FRILLS place. The TV works most of the time. You don't get extra towels unless you ask, and they do not clean the rooms on the daily unless you request it. The AC works well, but there isn't a fan in the bathroom. Everything is old and tired there. It was clean, we saw one ant and some flies. Typical for summer. It was a place to sleep and shower and keep my stuff while we enjoyed the beach. Plus it's cheap. Like really cheap considering.
And it's in walking different from Ugly Mugs. Which has some awesome coffee. And it's a 3 minute drive to Foodlion.
No frills or thrills just a nice quiet place to sleep and take a shower before going back to the beach. The ladies in the office were nice and give you a free bag of ice each day. The room was pretty clean and had good cold air-conditioning and nice hot shower. You can park your vehicle right outside your room door so that is a plus. Just a short walk to the ocean and easy walking to the pier. Lots of food options and shopping close by.
Everything about this place is five stars. Stayed here with my dad for a night and absolutely loved it. The staff was really friendly, the rooms were super clean and large, and it was very affordable. And only about a one minute walk from the beach, which had some amazing views. Also 800 feet away from the best hamburger you'll ever eat. I highly recommend.
Room that we stayed in was ok and very small and a bit run down. No mirror except for a small one in the bathroom. There's absolutely no room on the bathroom sink to set up anything for your convenience,so, forget about putting bathroom necessities in there. The TV, microwave and teenie tiny refrigerator were basic but adequate. Shower head was weak in pressure - if you let the water run a bit it does get hot. Free bags of ice for everyday you stay here, that was nice. Within walking distance of the beach/ocean, shopping, food, cafe's and coffee shops. This place is pet friendly. Was quiet the 2 nights that we stayed here. It's was just ok, but won't be back as there are a ton of other options available. The photos advertised are a bit deceiving.
Our room was clean..bed was comfortable.bathroom was very clean...great location to beach... Staff was friendly...Just don't get room #1 unless you want to listen to traffic right next to your head all night... I thought it was a little pricey at $173.00 a night but it was the start of the season.. i .would stay again but in a different room...
