Beads & Beans OBX is a small cafe and bakery on NC-12 in Rodanthe, one of the tri-villages at the north end of Hatteras Island. Alongside coffee and baked goods, the storefront also carries clothing, making it as much a small clothing shop as a coffee counter. It's a quick, counter-service kind of stop — good for a coffee and a pastry on the way to or from the beach rather than a sit-down meal.

Hours run mornings only, daily from 8 a.m. to noon, so it's a before-lunch stop rather than an afternoon one. Pricing is on the lower end ($). There's no phone number on file, so the shop's Facebook page is the best way to check current hours — worth doing here, since Hatteras Island floods and NC-12 closes more readily than the beaches farther north, especially during hurricane season (roughly August through October).

I dropped by with my family while on vacation and the coffee is amazing! The service is very quick and efficient, plus there's a really neat shop to look around while you're waiting for it. The pastries look (and taste) great along with the coffee and I ended up getting the chocolate croissant. The specials they have are great, interesting options and while I don't remember the names of the coffee I got, it was from the specials menu and great! It was so good that we ended up coming back another day for coffee. If you want some coffee while you're in Salvo, it's a great option and I would recommend!

loved this cute coffee shop! even though the line was consuming the store, those working got us through QUICK. The wait was enjoyable because all of the great shopping material available. Coffee was great and the most notable is their house made sweet foam, soooo good & fluffy! we were sad to miss them on our way out but the rest break is well deserved💜

We loved our quick trip to Beads & Beans! Friendly staff and their wide variety menus for coffee, pastries and other things are sure to please everyone who stops in. We loved the iced caramel macchiato and the Carmel coconut latte. But, the star of the show was the warm apple fritter. I should’ve ordered more than one!! This place also has other creations made by them, like their hand poured candles and other trinkets!

I was on my way home from Ocracoke to Manteo and I needed an espresso beverage so I stopped and it was a really good drink and amazing brownies they were yummy very nice place very nice customer service

First time trying out Beads & Beans! Absolutely one of the best coffee shops on the OBX! Had the pumpkin pie latte, delicious!! Excellent staff and cute shop to look at while passing the time waiting for coffees! Thank you!!
